1/27/25 Contact Sandy Hannum and Priscilla Kron
If you are an adult aged 16 or older who is interested in racial justice, this book group is for you! To date, our readings have touched on a variety of issues affecting Asian-Americans, Native Americans, African-Americans, and people of mixed heritage.
The discussions are facilitated by Priscilla Kron and Sandy Hannum. This spring we will meet in person in Fellowship Hall from 7:00 – 8:30 pm on the 4th Thursday of each month starting in February.
The group reads both fiction and non-fiction for broader perspectives and appeal. Through discussions we hope to better understand other cultures, ourselves, and each other. We would like to empower ourselves to create Beloved Community in our church and our broader society.
For February 27 we will read the Introduction and Parts 1 – 3 of Four Hundred Souls, edited by Ibram Kendi and Keisha Blain. It is a collection of writings from 90 brilliant authors, spanning the history of the African American experience from 1619 to 2019. Rather than read straight though this intense book, we are dividing it into three sections, and interspersing fiction selections between them for variety.
The chart below shows the complete RJBG list of books for Spring 2025.
